This is the best desktop replacement EVER! Between the huge screen, fast drive & processor, and easy to use MAC OSX, it is one of the easiest laptops to use that someone can buy.

I own an IMAC 24" which I love but I needed a laptop. After debating whether to go with the 17" or the 15", and pay an extra $ 300.00 for a slightly faster computer, I bought from Amazon this stock 17". I saved a bit money by purchasing from Amazon, rather than from Apple. This computer is amazing. The only thing that I don't understand is the card reader - I think I still have to purchase an actual reader - there is only a slot built in. I also purchased the Apple Care 3 year package and again saved money by purchasing from Amazon. The display is high quality, the machine is fast ( I can't see how spending an extra $ 300.00 for the 3.0 ghz could be a noticable improvement), it's light enough to carry, big enough to watch a movie - I think it is worth every penny. This is a 5 star product!

First Apple computer and I love it. So much better than Microsoft PC's. Highly recommend it. The only concern I have is if the battery ever needs to be changed. There are no local service providers where I live and I would not want to mail it off.

I would agree with another review who refers to this as the best laptop he's ever owned, except that I have to go one further. It's the best computer (in any form) that I've ever owned. Sleek, fast, and solid, the 1920x1200 LED-backlit display, incredibly long-lasting battery, and multitouch glass trackpad are among the specific highlights for me. The cool-running Penryn processor is peppy and highly efficient, and I appreciate that it still has an ExpressCard/32 slot (which I can populate with an SD reader, if I like) while the rest of the line went over to a fixed SD port.
The only option I went with was the antiglare display, which is bright, clear, and easy on the eyes for a full day at a time. Everything else -- even a baseline 4GB DRAM and 500GB drive -- was already included.
It's been interesting to compare this machine to the new Dell that I acquired at work in the same week, running the same processor and the same amount of memory at half the price, over the three months that I've been using both machines. The Dell falls tremendously short elsewhere in the specs department, but to be fair, it is just a business clunker. Sure, it cost half as much... but you absolutely get what you pay for. This MacBook Pro is a masterpiece of hardware design and engineering. I've posted a more detailed comparison at [...], if interested.
This review is supposed to be about the computer, or I'd have to comment on Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6), too. Suffice to say, it's elegant, ingenious, and spectacular.
